"The need to be closely related to others is as basic as any biological need." — Sue Johnson
Long before we know who we are, life begins teaching us who we need to become.
We learn what keeps us safe and what helps us survive. Over time, those patterns become so familiar that we can begin mistaking them for who we are. One thing I've come to believe is that the patterns we don't notice often become the ones that quietly shape our lives. We call them personality, habit, or sometimes even fate. But once they're brought into the light, they become something else entirely: a choice.
I believe that counseling isn't about becoming someone different. It's about understanding yourself deeply enough to recognize what no longer serves you, honouring the ways any patterns once helped you cope, and deciding which ones still deserve a place in your life.
Whether you're feeling caught in familiar patterns, questioning your relationships, navigating a season of uncertainty, or searching for a deeper understanding of yourself, I hope our conversations become a place where you don't feel pressure to have everything figured out. My role isn't to write your story for you. It's to walk alongside you as we make sense of it together, creating a space where you feel genuinely heard, thoughtfully challenged, and deeply respected.
Outside the therapy room, you'll usually find me reading philosophy, playing soccer, or walking through a rainy forest. I value the quiet moments that create space for reflection, and I find that stepping away from the noise of everyday life often brings a greater appreciation for what matters most.
The fact that you've found your way here tells me something. Even if it's quiet, even if it doesn't feel certain, there's a part of you that still believes change is possible. I think that part deserves our attention.
My hope isn't simply that you'll understand your unique story. It's that you'll feel free to write what comes next.
And if this resonates with you, perhaps we've already begun the conversation.
